The Man Whose Mother Was A Pirate

By Margaret Mahy

Adapted for the stage by Tim Bray
Music & Lyrics by Christine White

Ahoy me hearties! Dust off your eye patch, shiver your timbers, and bring your family to a rollicking good play about a man whose mother used to be a pirate.
Sam is a plain fellow who works in a tidy office in a big city far away from the sea. But his old pirate mum yearns to see again the great ocean waves rolling and dancing. So Sam loads her into his wheelbarrow and trundles her to the seashore, little knowing they’re in for the most wonderful adventure that will change their lives forever.

This exuberant, madcap, laugh-out-loud production, presented by Calico Young People's Theatre, stars professional actors Lisa-Jane Hay and Carl Hayes. Based on one of Margaret Mahy’s best-loved children’s books, it will be especially enjoyed by children aged 3 to 10 and their families.
